Hickory Handles with Polished End Caps make up these beautiful steak knives. Only high quality hickory is used to make the handles on our flatware. The hickory wood used for the handles of these handsome steak knives is carefully chosen for its character and color. The utensil portion of this knife is forged. In this process the piece is made individually by a molding process. These steak knives are formal enough for that special occasion, but also perfect for everyday use. Set includes four steak knives. Our rustic antler and hickory craft pieces are made by world-renowned artists, master wood workers, and blacksmiths, who pride themselves on their workmanship and the quality of the rustic products that they produce. The "Rustic Look" has become a truly popular choice of decorating and we offer hickory products for every room of the home. Please take some time to tour our website and enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of the products that we are proud to bring to you. Dimensions: Standard Materials: Hickory Wood Forged Metal Due to the handcrafted nature of this product, no two products are alike. The dimensions listed are approximate. Variations in overall dimensions or color may occur due to the natural materials used. Is forged flatware worth the increased price? Read On? The metal used in flatware is developed into utensils by two different processes. Drop-forged or forged: In this process the piece is made individually by a molding process. Forged or drop-forged flatware is heavier, denser and has smooth rounded edges. Forged is a higher process and generates a safer utensil that resists chips, breaking and contamination. Forged flatware is stainless as well. The forged piece is treated and sealed to stay smooth and untarnished. Look for flatware labeled as 'forged'. Feel the pieces; you will notice the smoother metal. Die-cut or stamped: In this process, flatware pieces are cut or punched from a sheet of lower quality pot-metal and then formed. The process leaves rougher edges that can be sharp. The metal is less pure and will discolor. It is usually not sealed or heat-treated to resist damage from heat, chemicals and daily use. The metal is also pitted and can retain contaminants. Die-cut costs less but is not worth the savings.
